I love my studio. I love practising in it myself and making sure that my students love being here. The studio itself.....
- has a great feel to it
- has a wonderful Yamaha grand piano which is consistently looked after
- is very organised and tidy
- has a great musical library of all different grades and styles
- has a waiting room off the studio where parents can chill out while still being connected to the lesson and siblings can relax, draw with derwent colour pencils and move around without distracting the student having the lesson
Opportunities in my studio include....
- 2 wonderful student concerts a year! The concerts have a very warm and inviting feel to them but there are still expectations. Choice of clothing and performance etiquette on stage before and after playing is considered a very important part of the performance. Performance practice is done constantly in lessons before the concert. I approach concert preparation with great care and positivity so that the student has the opportunity to feel comfortable saying something with their music to the audience- communicating a feeling, a colour or a story. Making students feel as safe and encouraged as possible is imperative to them attempting these massive risks with their music.
- The Emma Cutting Award! This is an annual award given to a student who has been particularly awesome in that year! It is a prize worth $200 donated by Emma.
