My Melting Pot of Quolls (qualifications!)....
Starting with music....
- AmusA (Associate of Music Australia) at age 13
- studied with the lovely Pamela Page
- started at QLD Conservatorium at just 15
- received the Griffith University Award for Academic Excellence
- was a national finalist Yamaha Piano Competition at 15
- played chamber music with cellist Simon Cobcroft and members of the QPO (Queensland Philharmonic Orchestra)
Stopped playing and then jobs over next 10 years included....
- 5 library jobs (Griffith University on 2 campuses, ANAM(Australian National Academy of Music), AYO(Australian Youth Orchestra), and MSO(Melbourne Symphony Orchestra)
- 4 hospitality jobs (cafe, Langham Hotel, fine dining, cabin crew for Emirates)
- 2 sales positions (tailor-made Melbourne-made suits, Japanese antiques)
- 2 reception positions (ANAM, busy hair salon)
- audition co-ordinator for AYO for many years
- orchestra manager for an awesome AYO program
- pulling together 27 functions in 3 days for MICMC (Melbourne International Chamber Music Festival)
Back into music again!....
- part of the MSO Pizzicato Effect teaching team for 2 years at Broadmeadows
- accompanied 2 choirs, one for a year
- played for Dame Elisabeth Murdoch AC DBE at her beautiful Cruden Farm
- played for Harold Mitchell AO (and he wrote that I was a "brilliant pianist"!)
- played at Government House Open Day and many functions there such as the welcome for Camilla Parker Bowles herself
- taught at Preshil Primary for 1 year, at Melbourne Girls Grammar School for 4 years, and Christchurch Grammar School
- accompanied at Monash University , Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, ANAM, MSO auditions
- recorded for Melbourne University Masters students in composing and for 3MBS
- played chamber concerts with the wonderful clarinettist Ashley William Smith in Melbourne and Perth
At the moment....
- I have set up my own successful teaching and accompaniment studio, which has been growing steadily for 7 years and counting
- I play regularly with MSO and love every minute of it
- I have thought and thought and thought about music in Australia and how I can help --and I am starting to have some ideas!
